Quick Summary

Yiwu International Trade City (YITC) reported total revenue of 19.707 billion yuan and net profit of 4.216 billion yuan for 2025, and submitted a main board listing application to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in May. Its overall development and strategic layout have attracted wide market attention.

1. Clear development trajectory: Its origins trace back to Yiwu's first generation small commodity market launched in 1982. The company was formally incorporated in 1993 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2002. Today it is the world's largest comprehensive international trade service platform and small commodity wholesale market, holding a leading market share in the industry.

2. Complete business layout: YITC has built three core ecosystem segments: commodity exhibition and trading, trade services, and supporting services. Offline, it operates over 1.6 million square meters of leasable space accommodating approximately 80,000 business entities, with a stable daily footfall of 200,000 visitors. Online, it operates the Chinagoods digital trade platform with 5.6 million registered buyers, and has launched AI-powered commerce tools to enable end-to-end trade digitization.

3. Clear future roadmap: Proceeds from the offering will fund overseas expansion and construction of the Global Digital Trade Center. Over the next three to five years, YITC plans to build 20 new overseas branch markets, 40 overseas exhibition halls, and 40 overseas warehouses.

As the world's leading small commodity trade platform, YITC's growth trajectory and strategic layout offer clear development insights and partnership opportunities for small commodity brands of all types.

1. Omnichannel growth opportunities: The platform has built an integrated online-offline omnichannel network. It boasts a stable daily offline footfall of 200,000 visitors and unmatched product variety globally, alongside 5.6 million registered global buyers on its online platform, delivering substantial traffic and customer base support for brands.

2. End-to-end cross-border expansion support: The platform has developed a complete "1+5+2+M" cross-border expansion system, offering end-to-end services covering payment, logistics, exhibition halls and trade shows. This helps brands lower barriers to global expansion, with a focus on tapping core overseas markets including Europe and Southeast Asia.

3. New growth space from two-way trade: YITC has built a two-way trading network enabling "global goods to be traded globally." Brands can leverage the platform to both export Chinese goods and import overseas products into the Chinese market, capitalizing on the consumption trend of integrated two-way import and export to unlock new growth.

YITC's Hong Kong offering and expansion plan brings clear growth opportunities for domestic and cross-border sellers, while also highlighting notable operational risks.

1. Abundant high-quality operational resources: Offline, the platform offers over 1.6 million square meters of leasable space, with core stall occupancy holding steady at over 98% year-round. The newly completed Global Digital Trade Center is also open for leasing, accommodating diverse offline operational needs for sellers. Online, the Chinagoods platform connects more than 50,000 physical stalls with 5.6 million registered global buyers, helping sellers source orders from around the world.

2. Targeted solutions for cross-border pain points: To address sellers' pain points around foreign exchange settlement and logistics for cross-border sales, YITC launched Yipay to reduce cross-border exchange losses, and built a logistics network combining over 800,000 square meters of domestic warehouse space with overseas warehouses in multiple countries. To date, it has rolled out 78 overseas projects across 37 countries, helping sellers reach overseas customers locally.

3. Operational risk reminder: YITC's in-house product sales business only posts a gross margin of 0.5% to 0.7%, with extremely high cost share. Sellers looking to launch large-scale in-house trading operations should prioritize cost control to avoid significant margin compression.

YITC's ecosystem layout and growth strategy create clear commercial opportunities for small commodity manufacturers, while offering a reference model for digital transformation.

1. Access to massive order demand: The platform aggregates global procurement demand across 26 product categories covering approximately 2.1 million SKUs, with 200,000 daily offline visitors and 5.6 million registered online buyers. Manufacturers can join the platform to directly access large volumes of wholesale and procurement orders, securing a stable customer base for both domestic sales and exports while cutting intermediate channel costs.

2. Low-barrier overseas expansion: YITC is accelerating its overseas expansion, planning to build 20 new overseas branch markets, 40 overseas exhibition halls and 40 overseas warehouses over the next three to five years. Manufacturers can leverage the platform's established global sales network to connect directly with local overseas procurement demand, accessing international markets without building their own independent overseas channels.

3. A reference for digital transformation: YITC has completed large-scale digitization of its offline resources, and partnered with leading tech firms to launch a large language model for the commerce sector, enabling end-to-end trade digitization. Manufacturers can adopt this model to unify online and offline customer acquisition channels and improve operational efficiency.

From the perspective of small commodity international trade development, the industry is showing clear new trends, opening up new partnership opportunities and growth directions for trade service providers of all types.

1. Clear industry development trends: Global small commodity trade is moving toward the integration of physical markets and digital trade, as well as two-way global trade. Leading platforms are accelerating their global layout, driving rapid growth in demand for end-to-end supporting services and expanding the overall market size.

2. Core pain points for industry clients: Small and medium-sized merchants and brands conducting cross-border trade widely face pain points including high cross-border exchange losses, difficult cross-border logistics fulfillment, high global customer acquisition costs, and insufficient in-house digital capabilities, creating strong demand for targeted solutions from professional service providers.

3. Defined partnership and growth opportunities: YITC is currently advancing overseas business expansion, construction of the Global Digital Trade Center, and platform system upgrades, which requires the participation of service providers across supply chain, fintech, digital technology, exhibition operation and other fields to jointly build out the global trade ecosystem. Service providers can align with YITC's demand to expand their own customer base and business scope.

YITC's growth model and latest layout provide a useful reference for the operation and development of all trade platforms, and clarify the core market demand for trade platforms today.

1. Proven stable operating experience: YITC built its business around offline physical market operations, generating stable high-margin revenue from stall rental, with core stall occupancy holding above 98% year-round. It then gradually expanded into trade services and supporting services to build a complete ecosystem. This incremental development model delivers strong risk resilience and stable profitability.

2. Clear direction for platform capability building: Merchants' demand for platforms has shifted from simply providing operating space to end-to-end integrated services. Platforms now need comprehensive capabilities including digital customer acquisition, cross-border payment, cross-border logistics and expansion supporting services; building out these capabilities is essential to boost merchant retention.

3. Operational risks to avoid: While YITC's in-house product sales business has grown its total revenue scale, it only posts a gross margin of 0.5% to 0.7% with extremely high cost share, dragging down overall profitability. Platforms looking to expand similar businesses should watch for margin risks and control investment scale appropriately.

This article summarizes the latest prospectus information from YITC's Hong Kong listing application, providing first-hand updated data for research on the small commodity international trade sector, and highlighting multiple new industry trends and innovative business models.

1. New industry-wide development trends: The global small commodity international trade sector is seeing rapid concentration. YITC's market share in the market procurement trade sector has reached 38%, up 14.9 percentage points from 2020, outpacing industry peers significantly and leading to increasingly clear industry concentration around leading players. At the same time, the sector is accelerating digital transformation and global layout, with leading platforms already achieving end-to-end trade digitization and building complete global fulfillment networks.

2. Summary of innovative business models: YITC has pioneered an innovative three-factor ecosystem profit model: it uses high-margin stall rental and trade services as its core profit support, uses low-margin product sales to scale total revenue, and leverages supporting services to boost ecosystem retention. This creates a stable and sustainable profit structure. Meanwhile, its "1+5+2+M" cross-border expansion system also provides a new researchable model for global expansion of trade platforms.

3. New trend in capital operation: Leading Chinese trade platforms are pursuing a secondary listing in Hong Kong to raise funding for global expansion. This is a new trend for Chinese trade sectors to access international capital and advance global layout, carrying high research value.
